Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX
My 1:5 scale Spitfire Mk IX is finished in the predominantly bare metal livery of 601 (County of London) Squadron, as worn during its deployment in 1942 to North Africa and the Mediterranean. The model, which I began in the Spring of 2013, took seven years to build, and it was inspired by the superb drawings of the Mk IX by Paul Montforton, together with and his matchless book titled Spitfire Engineered. I have donated the model to the Solent Sky Museum in Southampton, birthplace of the Spitfire.
